COBRAS BEST 2023 TPFL CHAMPION OHIO GLADIATORS 17-14

The Cleveland Cobras traveled to Duke Stadium to kickoff the 2024 Tri-Point Football League against the defending 2023 TPFL champion Ohio Gladiators. 

After trailing 8-0 in the second quarter, Kevin Green (88) would recover a fumble that would be returned 52 yards for a TD to get the Cobras on the scoreboard. Ben Lyons (45) would add the extra point. 

The Cobras would trail at the half by the score of 14-7. 

The Cobras would add two points via a safety when a snap would go over the head of the punter cutting the Cobra deficit to 14-9. After an exchange of fumbles late in the fourth quarter,, Dave "Slap" Thompson would lead the Cobras on a game winning drive capped off by Thompson's three yard touchdown run to give the visitors a 15-14 lead. 

The Gladiators would get the ball back on their own ten yard line with 26 seconds left in the game and one time out available. However, an errant snap would go over the head of Gladiator quarterback Danny Skalecki and into the end zone resulting in the second safety of the night for the Cobras. 

After the free kick, the Cobras would go into victory formation and would get the week one win by a final score of 17-14.

The Cobras will host the Port City Spartans on June 8th at Brooklyn Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
